SRINAGAR: Around 70 students and officials in the Ski expedition at Gulmarg held by the Jamamu and Kashmir Youth Services and Sports (YSS) were tested by Covid-19 positive on Thursday.
A YSS department official, who is also part of the expedition, said that around 120 students and officials participated in the ski expedition at Gulmarg and about 70 of them were tested positive for Covid-19.
He said that like per student protocol before becoming part of the expedition was asked to send to the RT-PCR test they did and they were all negative.
“Later, mouse tests are also done which also comes negatively,” the official said.
“A few days later after it was reported that there were several positive cases in the General Region of Gulmarg following three students Tydale Biscoe School on ski expeditions tested positively and the school authorities reduced the expedition of 15 days and returned on Saturday” the official said.
However, Director of Tourism G N ITOO requested mass sampling for rats and RT-PCR tests just last week.
Ski student testing reports and several officials of the Youth and Sports Service Department on Thursday proved that 70 positive expedition participants.
He said that while positive people were separated from negative cases and isolated, the right SOP was also followed.
No need to worry because all positive children don’t show symptoms and are fine, “said the official.
