70 percent of Afghan media stopped working since the Taliban tookover

KABUL: At least 70 percent of media outlets have stopped working in Afghanistan since the Taliban took control of the country due to financial problems, the national journalist association.
The National Journalist Association at a press conference in Kabul on Sunday, said that they found statistics after conducting an online survey in 28 Afghan Province, Khamma Press reported.
They said that 1,500 Afghanistan journalists have taken part in the survey.
In accordance with organizational statistics, 67 percent of Afghan journalists have lost work and 33 percent of them are busy working under acute pressure and in difficult situations.
The Head of the National Journalist Association said Masroour Lutfi said that most of the Afghan media were actively facing terrible economic and financial situations.
“40 percent of Afghan journalists are worried about their safety in Afghanistan and the rest of them live a difficult life because they have lost their jobs.” Lutfi said.
The emergence of the Taliban in Afghanistan raised worries among many journalists in the country will be targeted to silence differences of opinion.
