Coimbatore: City police will deploy 700 police to enforce the total locking on Sunday.
Police have also warned strict action against people who roam the unnecessary streets.
After a recent surge in Covid-19 Caseload, the state government has announced at night hours starting at 10pm to 5 in the morning on weekdays and a total of kuncian on all Sundays to capture the spread.
Pradip Kumar City Police Commissioner said they enforced evening hours effectively.
“We will use 700 police on Sunday to ensure total locking.
We have 44 two-wheel patrol teams and 23 four-wheel patrol teams.
They will cover the entire city.
We have also identified 30 places to spread the static team to conduct vehicle checks.” He said strict enforcement of Covid-19 norms should not be considered abuse.
“We ask people not to come out unnecessary on Sundays.
If they do it, we will take tight action and seize their vehicle.
Locking is intended to contain the spread of the virus.
People must work with us.” Pradeep said they were hanging out with Medical emergency and travel destination will not be stopped.
City police have begun to force a fine for people because they don’t wear facial masks.
“We have ordered 1,592 people in two days (5 Jan & 6) for violating Covid norms and collecting a fine of Rs 2,15,800.
We have distributed 2,045 facial masks to the public too,” City Top Cop said.
