More than 72% of pregnant women in Maharashtra (around 1.2 lakh) have not taken their second jab, showing data on the Ministry of Health.
An official said about 1.8 lakh from them had taken their first chance throughout the country, but only around 51,912 chose to the second, reported pyush Bhusari.
Data shows that Nashik is a leading district – as many as 18,102 pregnant women have taken their first shots, and 5,133 even chooses for the second.
At least five districts, including Palghar, no one returned for the second shot.
“Many might avoid pregnancy in the first trimester.
There is also the possibility that many of which took their first shots might have been sent before their second shot feasibility,” said Sanjay Patil.
“The gap between two doses may be the main reason for delays.
We have asked officials to vaccinate the earliest beneficiaries,” said the Sachin Desai State Immunization Officer to the Toi.
