Thiruvananthapuram: Another case of the Zika virus reported from state capital took the total case to 19 in the state.
The last case has been reported in the 73-year-old woman who underwent treatment at a private hospital.
However, five more samples sent for testing to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Alappuzha have been tested negative Zika.
Three people, including a 22-month-old child, were infected with a virus in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday.
All 19 cases have been reported from state capital so far.
The central team, who are visiting the country to review the situation, have directed the government to strictly ensure the steps of mosquito control.
Among 19 cases, 14 is a health worker of a private hospital.
They live in NanthCode from where water samples have been collected for testing.
The Central Team has a discussion with the Health Administration of Thiruvananthapuram Regency and the regions visited from the place of Zika virus infection have been reported.
“We have given special instructions to test all pregnant women who come with the symptoms of dengue or chikungunya.
We have also given direction to all scanning centers in the district to report allegations of immediate cases to the District Health Authority,” said the Medical District Dr.
KS Shinu said.
When there is reporting the case of dengue fever and chikungunya, there is a possibility that the spread of the Zika virus is also spread by the same mosquito.
The Ministry of Health has collected more samples from people who have made close contact with those who have been tested positively now and also from people living in these people.
