Hyderabad: Jama Masjid Chowk at Murgi Chowk near Charminar, built more than 200 years ago, has been returned to the Friday discourse in Urdu 73 years after it stopped service in local languages.
Immediately after ‘Polo surgery’ in September 1948 which led to the incorporation of the Hyderabad State with the Indian Union, the mosque was built during the Sikandar Jah, Nizam III period, stopped Urdu services and limited themselves with Arab sermons.
This was done to avoid controversy given the political conditions that apply later.
The mosque, known as Chowk-Ki-Mosque, launched the Discourse of Urdu on the first Friday of Moharrum, the first month of the Islamic calendar, this year.
Mr.
obedient has welcomed the step because the discourse in Urdu will help them follow socio-economic and public education.
Chowk-ki-mosque is one of two historical mosques in Hyderabad where Friday sermons (Khutba) are delivered in Arabic without a discourse (Bayan) in Urdu.
Other mosques are Mecca Mosque.
After the management of Chowk-Ki-Mosque introduced the Urdu discourse, the State Waqf board also plans to follow the suit at the Mecca Mosque.
Friday sermons that preceded congregational day prayers were divided into two parts.
Both parts are delivered in Arabic.
But because people in India do not understand Arabic, Friday sermons are preceded by discourse in Urdu or regional languages.
As far as regarding Telugu countries, Arab Sermon for all Fridays in a year was chosen by the Nizam government (religion) Department nearly 100 years ago.
They are only repeated even now, while Urdu’s discourse is largely based on the topic today.
The Chowk-Ki-Mosque Management Committee felt that obedient who attended prayer Friday denied the benefits of knowing religion and social, cultural and education problems that disrupted the main minority community, because no one said what was said in Arabic.
About 2,000 people attended Friday prayers in the mosque and in the absence of an Urdu discourse, many of them appeared only a few moments before the Congregational name.
“We discussed this problem for a long time and finally decided to reintegrate Urdu’s discourse for the benefit of godly.
Since launching Urdu services seven weeks ago, the response from obedient has been quite encouraging.
They appeared in the mosque early enough to listen to the Urdu discourse.
Mufti Mohammad Haneef Quadri from Jamia Nizamia has been employed for Urdu Bayan or discourse, “said Syed Asim Ahmad, a member of the Management Committee.
ASIM Ahmad said the mosque has opened a library for the benefit of students.
It also plans to run coaching classes for competitive and public checks.
President Munawar Mosque Committee Hussain has offered incentives to poor students and merit.
The Chairman of the Waqf council Mohammad Saleem told TII that he would take steps to introduce Urdu services in Mecca Mosque also because thousands of people emerged in a mosque of nearly 400 years for Friday prayers.
