Mangaluru: A total of 730 honorary teachers have been appointed for nearly 700 government schools throughout the country under the Rural Development Project (SKDRDP) Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, said the Executive Director of SKDRDP L H Manjunath.
He said that this program was launched by Dharmastala Dharmadikari D Veerendra Heggade to improve the quality of education throughout the state.
“Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, although there was an increase in acceptance in government schools, there was also a lack of teachers.
SKDRDP has appointed 730 teachers for this academic year and is worth noting that the state has 178 single teacher schools.
Therefore, the contribution of these teachers is very important To improve education standards in the state, “he said.
In the Jnanadeepa program, said Manjunath for rural development, education is very important.
There are certain challenges in the rural sector such as connectivity, poverty and infrastructure because there are differences in the quality of education provided in rural and urban schools.
Some districts remain back to the back and taking into account all these factors, Dharmadhikari launched the Jnanadeepa education program about 30 years ago.
Various development work includes increased infrastructure in schools, electrification, providing drinking water, Rangamandira building and repairing the school building has been taken.
So far, SKDRDP has taken work worth RS 41 Crore and spends around Rs 9.5 Crore on the designated teacher salary.
Qualified teachers in every unemployed village are identified and they are paid for by the Honor by SKDRDP.
Their assignment does not limit only teaching in the classroom.
They visited dropout homes and encouraged them to return to school, Manjunath added.
