Letter: Polling for the selection of Dadra and Nagar Haveli (DNH) Lok Sabha’s seat was held in 333 voting stations on Saturday in the Union DNH DIU and Daman (DNHDD) area which was largely dominated by the tribe.
The preliminary voting rate suggested that at least 75.51 percent of the vote surveyed from a total of 2.58 lakh registered voters in UT.
There were no UNWARD incidents reported for 12 hours of polling from 7am to 7pm.
“Polling finished peacefully and no unexpected incident occurred where in UT.
The police have installed tight bandobiast to ensure a smooth poll,” said Hareshwar Swami, police supervisor, DNH.
A total of 1,700 police are deployed to ensure the voting is still smooth and peaceful.
Apart from 300 DNH police officers, 10 additional companies from CAPF, four Gujarat police companies and one Daman police company were deployed.
“Among the preventive steps, 10 flying teams, 18 static supervision teams, 10 checkpoints, six quick response teams, two parties arrest and two striking reserve teams were pressed on duty,” Swami told toi.
In the past 30 days, the police confiscated 6,500 bottles of liquor from illegitimate ownership and RS 1 Crore in cash confiscated.
Candidates from the three leading parties – BJP, Congress and Shiv Sena – are fighting for the election in the empty chair after the death of MP Independent, Mohan Delkar, found in the city of Mumbai in February 2021.
Delkar defends Natu Patel of BJP by 9001 gives battle in 2019 as an independent candidate.
Patel is a BJP MP for two consecutive requirements since 2009.
Delkar is MP from seats sequentially for six terms since 1989 when he was contested as Congress Candidate, BJP and Mandiri.
His father Sanjibhai was also elected in 1967 as a member of the parliament from the chair.
Delkar’s Widow, Kaaben, fighting with Sena Shiv tickets and the direct battle is with Mahesh Gavit from BJP.
Mahesh Dhodi is a Congress Candidate.
BJP leader Ashwini Vaishnav, Minister of Union for Railways and Shiv Sena Leader Sanjay Raut campaigned for their candidates.
A large number of workers and leaders of Gujarat BJP camped in UT.
“I am sure that I will win elections because people will express their anger for unexpected deaths from my husband.
People have a strong feeling for my husband,” Kalaben said.
ABHINAV, Delkar son, was stopped by polls to take Selfies outside the Tokarkhada station poll.
BJP workers reached the most remote tribal villages, this election and Gavit expressed victory confidence.
