75 Reported Dead in Philippines Typhoon: Officials

Manila: At least 75 people have been reported killed in the strongest typhoon to hit the Philippines this year, the official count shows Sunday, as efforts to send water and food to the destroyed islands.
More than 300,000 people fled their homes and the beachfront resort when Typhoon Rai destroyed the southern and middle of the islands.
Storms knock down communication and electricity in many areas, tear the roof and infect concrete electric poles.
Arthur Yap, the governor of the popular tourist destination Bohol, said on his official Facebook page that the mayor on the destroyed island had reported 49 deaths in their cities.
It took the number of deaths reported as a whole to 75, according to the latest official figures.
Yep said that 10 people were still missing on the island and 13 injured after the storm hit the state Thursday as a super-sinful wind speed of 195 kilometers (120 miles) per hour.
“Communication is still down.
Only 21 mayors from 48 reaching us,” Yap said, raising fears that the dead could rise in the province that was flooded.
Thousands of military, police, coast guards, and firefighting personnel are being deployed to help search and rescue efforts in the worst affected areas.
A Philippine Navy ship carrying goods and other assistance will go to Bohol on Monday, Yep said, after he previously stated the disaster on the island.
There is also a widespread destruction in Siargao, the Mindanao Islands and Islands, which bear the burden of Rai when slamming to the Philippines.
The air photo distributed by the military shows severe damage in the city of Siargao General Luna, where many surfers and tourists have flocked ahead of Christmas, with buildings stripped of the roof and debris scattered.
The governor was passed by Arlene Bag-ao told Saturday the damage to the island landscape “reminded not worse” than caused by Super Typhoon Haiyan in 2013.
Haiyan, called Yolanda in the Philippines, is the most deadly typhoon at the record in the country Leaving more than 7,300 people die or missing.
Rai wind speed subsided to 150 kph when barreling throughout the country, removing heavy rain which flooded the villages, pulled out trees and destroyed the wood structure.
It appeared above the South China Sea on Saturday and headed to Vietnam.
The Philippines – ranked one of the most vulnerable countries in the world with the effects of climate change – was hit by an average of 20 storms and typhoons every year, which usually removes harvests, homes and infrastructure in areas that are already poor.
