Nagpur: This year starting January 1 to October 31, the city has witnessed an accident of 767 roads, 169 more than the same period in 2020, when 598 accidents were reported, revealing a study conducted by the Nagpur Traffic Police.
Vehicle traffic has increased rapidly this year after relaxation on the Covid sidewalk.
In comparison, there are rare traffic for most of the last years because of locking.
Data also revealed that the number of fatal accidents has also increased this calendar year.
A total of 205 fatal accidents claimed the life of 217 people and injured 83.
In the appropriate period in 2020, 156 people were killed in 145 accidents that had left 51 others injured.
Not only fatal, even a serious and small accident has witnessed a steep increase.
This year as many as 297 serious and 260 small accidents occurred.
By 2020, there were 228 serious accidents and 225 small.
The study also revealed that the internal road continued to be more susceptible to road accidents.
Of the 767 accidents, 493 occurred on the internal road.
Last year, this count was 355.
According to statistics, the traffic in the Ring Road Inner has increased significantly.
This year, 44 accidents have occurred in the Inner Ring Ring, while in 2020 there were 69 accidents.
Jalan Katol, Umred and Bhandara each witnessed 14, 9 and 20, this year.
Last year these streets reported 19, 11 and 24 road accidents.
Accidents at Wardha Road, Jabalpur Road, Amravati Road, Chhindwara Road and Hingna Road have witnessed a sharp increase with 46, 49, 43, 31 and 18.
Last year, these streets each watched 32, 26, 26 and six accidents .
Traffic police claim to have intensified various drives to curb road accidents.
Recently, he launched a drive against two-wheeled riders without a helmet outside the gas station throughout the city.
