Individual regional bodies such as the BMC and the Pune Municipal Corporation also encouraged bids for vaccine distribution. The BMC had received eight bids for distribution of some crore vaccine dosages because of Tuesday, but it chose to extend the international expression of interest (EOI) for sale of these vaccines until June 1 since it was to scrutinise the ideas. Officials stated that from those eight bids, seven were for providing Russia’s Sputnik plus a suggestion was for providing Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines. Officials stated additional scrutiny procedure was being completed and therefore the EOI was extended before June 1. Of those seven Sputnik providers, three’ve quoted a cost of about Rs 1,500 to the complete dose. Though the BMC is currently open to paying around Rs 750 crore to get 50 lakh vaccine dosages, it’s currently making efforts to affirm if the companies can provide the vaccines in fourteen days, as mentioned in its international EOI.
