8 films from Bengal made it to the IFFI 52 edition in Goa

Kolkata: From a film in the life of Soumitra Chatterjee to a documentary, ‘Sainbari to Sandeshkhali’ – Bengal has an impressive presence between the films that have been chosen for the Indian Panorama section which will be played during the 52nd edition of the Indian international film festival In Indonesia Goa from November 20 to 28 this year.
The selected ones are five feature films and three non-feature films from Bengal.
Rajdeep Paul and ‘Kalkokkho’, Satrabit Paul ‘Nitanti Sahhaj Saral’, ‘Abhijaan’ Parambrata Chatttopadhyay, ‘Manikbabur MEGH’ and Dictionary ‘Manikbabur MEGH’ and BRATYA BASU have succeeded in reaching 20 film features chosen for Indian panoramas.
Among the three non-featured films were selected, one of them was in English.
Directed by Ashok Viswanathan, this non-feature titled ‘Badal Sircar & The Alternative Theater’.
Two other works include Abhijit A Paul ‘Naad – Sound’ and Sarhamitra Chaudhuri ‘Sainbari to Sandeshkhali’.
While Anjan Bose was happy that the first feature film (‘Kalkokkho’), which was produced by Aurora Film Corporation after 45 years, had made wounds, Parambrata and Bratya happy with the selection of their film which marked their Indian panoramic debut as director.
Because of being asked about this ‘Abhijaan’ genesis, Parambrata said that Chatterjee Soumitra knew it through the producer.
“I was worried whether he was sure I could handle a very large subject.
But he welcomed the idea and was very impressed when I told him about my opinion on the scenario.
Today I miss it further,” Parambrata said.
Bratya, who will try to attend screening in Goa, say, “This is a great recognition for me and my team.
I am happy that the jury has appreciated sensitivity and subtly, which I want to communicate through my film.

“The producer of ‘Dictionary’ Firdausul Hasan said,” We released a film during a pandemic and got a full-performance in Nandan.
At present, there is a little financial incentive for us to produce a meaningful cinema in India.
Doordarshan will buy a film Chosen for Indian Panorama.
The policy was withdrawn about eight years ago.
For our collective inspiration, I appeal to the government to re-introduce the Norma Doordarshan to buy these chosen films.
“The Docu Sanghamitra feature is in Sainbari, Marichjhapi and 12 other landmark events which rocked Bengal in the past five decades.
“I missed the national award deadline because of the dilemma of the film Certification Center .
Finally, I got the certificate in July but by then it was too late to apply for a national award.
