Hyderabad: The gang of bicycle thieves between countries caught by the Suryapet police and 40 bikes worth Rs 22 Lakh recovered from their ownership.
After a series of bicycle theft cases reported in Suryapet Town, SP District B Bhaskaran formed three special teams to complete the case.
Police analyzed CCTV recordings near the crime scene and, by working on tin for four months, arresting eight gang members between countries, including the main charges of Chall Prabhakar from Tallampadan Village in Khammam.
Apart from Prabhakar, the police also arrested the recipient of the stolen bicycle B Swamy, from the village of Perika Singaram, B, all of Khammam District.
Based on the recognition of the defendant, the police restored 40 bikes worth Rs 22 lakh from their ownership.
Among the restored vehicles, 13 was stolen from Suryapet, five of Khammam, four of the Kodad, each of Hyderabad and Hanamkonda in Telangana, four of Nandigama, six of the Jaggayyapet from Krishna District in Andhra Pradesh and the details of the remaining vehicles were not confirmed.
During the interrogation, Prabhakar claimed that he suffered a loss in the business center of fast food at Kusumanchi.
To overcome financial problems, Prabhakar began to do bicycle theft from March 2021 about other accused suggestions, most of the bicycle mechanics.
Prabhakar mostly committed a violation alone and he used to travel to busy areas of cities on the bus with a helmet in a bag and do bicycle theft during the day in a crowded area to avoid easy identification by the police through CCTV recording analysis.
