New Delhi: Eight more boxers are tested positive for Covid-19 in the National Camp on the ongoing man in NIS, Patiala on Thursday, taking the total number of cases to 26 but all those infected complained about “relatively light symptoms”.
After 18 camping, 12 boxers and six supporting staff members returned positive for viruses on Wednesday, eight more added to the calculation after fresh testing.
The total number of infected boxers now stands at 20.
“Two Sumit and Rohit Mor’s main boxers and six sparring partners they have been positively tested.
The camp continues and all infected in isolation with most symptoms of mild, it is not like the second wave,” A source in the National Camp told PTI.
Among the infected support staff was the head coach of the Head of Rana Narender and Coach Coordinator C A Kuttappa along with Assistant Coach Suranjoy Singh.
The camp will also display Tokyo Olympians Amit Pughal, Vikas Krishhan, Manish Kaushik, Ashish Chaudhary and Satish Kumar in a few days after their name was approved by the Indian federation.
The fifth was stored earlier because it did not participate in the national championship.
Still to be seen whether the epidemic current affects their schedule.
“I don’t think the camp will be affected, we have around 20 cases in the second wave and the process takes place with those infected in isolation.
The symptoms experienced at that time worse,” the source said.
“At present, there is only a slight cold.
The fever was there for a day or more but most of them were found positively asymptomatik.
One person left with his personal vehicle as he developed back problems,” he added.
The boxing camp was disrupted during the second wave of pandemic for a short period but continued after the infection subsided.
