Mumbai: Four members of the Mumbai Fire Brigade Team were awarded the Presidential Medal for Galantry on the occasion of independence day.
The Gallantry medal was stated to display leadership, courage, professional expertise consistently, and dedication to the highest task while carrying out search and rescue operations in Bhanushali built collapsed in the fort in June last year.
While four Mumbai and four other Fire Brigade personnel from Maharashtra fire services have also been given for other rescue operations in the state.
Those who have been awarded from the Mumbai Fire Brigade are Prabhat Rahangdale, Deputy Commissioner of the City and then Director of Maharashtra Fire Services, Deputy Head of Fire Department Hemant Puriab, Atmaram Mishra Divisional Fire Officer, Krishnat Yadav Assistant Fire Officer is from Mumbai Fire Brigade.
Four others, Ballasaheb Netherd Assistant Station Officer, Fireman Pankaj Pawar, Fireman Sandeep Asekar and Fireman Rajendra Rajam came from Maharashtra Fire Extinguisher that had been awarded other rescue operations.
The building, located near the South Mumbai Fort Lucky House, crashed 16 July 2020, which led to the death of 10 residents and several others were injured.
Officials said the building was over 100 years old.
Plaster has begun to fall and with a lost before the structure, building renovation has become important for the safety of residents.
The president’s medal for Galantry and the President’s medal for leading services and medal medals and agreement services that trained was given to fire personnel, civil defense and home keepers on the Republican Day and Independence Day every year.
