COIMBATORE: Eight organs were transplanted from a 51-year-old road accident victim in Coimbatore on Tuesday.
R Chenthamarai of Singanallur met with a road accident on the Sivasakthi Nagar Road on Sunday night.
He was rushed to a private hospital for first aid and later referred to Kovai Medical Centre and Hospital for specialized treatment.
Chenthamarai had suffered severe head injuries and did not respond to treatment.
On Tuesday, doctors declared him brain dead.
The family agreed to donate his organs when informed about the programme and its benefits.
Hospital authorities contacted TRANSTAN that swung into action allotting all the organs.
