Rajkot: The aggressive vaccination drive conducted by the administration has produced 80% of the adult population Gir Somnath District get the first dose of Covid vaccine.
While 343 villages in the district have reached the first dose of 100%.
“A total of 7.95 lakh people have been inoculated with the first dose while 3.24 lakh people are fully vaccinated in the district,” said Arun Roy, said the Head of the Health District.
Many parts of the Somnath Gir District, home for asiatic lions, are remote areas surrounded by forests.
In addition to access to distant areas, vaccine doubts between the locals also proved obstacles in drive vaccines.
District administration organizes various programs to expel vaccine doubts to ensure maximum participation in the drive.
Senior officials including collector and district development officers organized ‘Ratri Sabha’ in various villages to convince people to take Jab.
District administration uses a public address system of religious places, such as mosques, to spread awareness about drive vaccination and also contemplate complicated about Jab.
The health teams visited livestock farmers in the villages of the Sanctuary Gir using a mobile van and also provided a vaccine at their doorstep.
The health team also visits a boat in the Veraval port to provide a dose to fishermen.
