Dharwad: Regardless of lack of knowledge about online education and accessibility of internet accessibility, 75-80% of teachers in the Dharwad district are managed online teaching efficiently during the pandemic-induced locking period, revealing reports.
Team of doctors and psychiatrists from the Dharwad Institute of Mental Health and Sciences Neuro (Dimhans), under the guidance of Dharwad-based psychiatrists Dr.
Anand Pandurali, have conducted a study of ‘evaluation of challenges, attitudes of school teachers to online teaching methodologies and psychological burdens in Dharwad District teachers’ And the report was submitted to the Supplementary Commissioner of the Public Instruction (Division of the Division) Siddalingayya Hiratha on Thursday.
The study team consisted of Dr.
Aditya Pandurangi, Dr.
Sapna Pandurangi and Professor Dr.
Mahesh – Associate in Dimhans.
The team had sent a questionnaire to 652 school and private school teachers in the Dharwad district.
The report said only 1% of the teachers suffered a psychological burden while conducting online classes while for almost 80% of the teachers became a simple routine matter.
During the first wave and second Covid-19, schools and colleges must be closed, and online education becomes unavoidable.
“It is necessary to learn scientifically the impact of online teaching and learning and we do it with the cooperation of the Ministry of Education,” said Dr.
Aditya Pandusei.
This report has been prepared after getting answers from 652 teachers, including 223 men and 429 women and answers analyzed scientifically.
Analysis has revealed that the 75-80% teacher managed to deal with online classes and they were ready to face unexpected challenges.
Only 1% of Teachers feel difficult tasks due to lack of training in handling online classes, lack of internet facilities and non-cooperation by parents.
Considering these factors, the Dimhans team has suggested the Ministry of Education to take several precautions to maintain the process of teaching and learning without interruption during a pandemic.
Online teaching training must be mandatory for BED, MED or DED courses, and invite psychiatrists to school once or twice a week during counseling the teachers and students when the physical class begins to avoid confusion is a suggestion offered by the study team.
The additional commissioner of the Siddalingayya Hirathan public instruction told TI that he had received a study report.
Suggestions made by the team to make online teaching and hassle free learning will be implemented, he added.
