Nagpur: The forest department arrested two people and confiscated a power cable from their farm near Pest, as long as the anti-electrocution drive was carried out on Saturday.
Under Pencah Tiger Reserve (PTR), this large combing operation includes nearly 30 villages where 15 special teams have fanned to detect illegal electrical cables that have caused some animal deaths too.
According to the official statement, PTR Maharashtra conducted an anti-snare operation and anti-electric shock in 22 villages in the range of Pauni and six villages adjacent to the Deolaapar wildlife.
In Pauni there were 11 teams and the remaining four were in Delaapar.
These teams include members with various skills, so as to ensure that they are well equipped not to just comb the area but also see cables that are illegally and hidden.
Each team includes forest guards and five members of special tiger protection forces.
Their familiarity with the topography of the area helps run operations.
Because the drive involves detection of naked electrical cables that can pose a risk even on the team and also involves theft of power, staff from MSEDC are also involved.
In part number 130 and 154 in Ambazhari Village, the forest department found a naked electrical cable on MN Bagmare and Ambali agriculture.
Naked wire almost 800 meters seized during surgery.
After recording Panchnama, the case has been transferred to the MSEDCL department for further action.
ACF MN Puriab, RFO JR Took, P Babde, a Bhagat, and Junior Engineer S Ghadge is part of the operation.
In a similar anti-electrocution drive was carried out on January 16, the Deolafar Wildlife Range staff had won the wire in the number 496 Savara Village Nagpur Forest Division, owned by Seikh Faruukh Pathhan.
Then, this case was transferred to MSEB for further action.
Pest staff works together with MSEDCL and territorial staff.
