81% of teachers, support staff fully vaccinated in Pune

Pune: Vaccination of teacher and non-teaching staff priority in front of the plan to open school has led to full immunization of 81% of the total staff deployed at the government / private school against Covid-19 in the Metropolitan Pune (PMR), the latest district government report shows.
There are a total of 56,633 teachers and non-teaching staff who work in all schools in the region.
From them, 46,432 (81%) had received a dose so far while 54,802 (96%) staff have received the first dose.
The percentage of vaccination with the first higher dose at a government / city school is managed.
“We will be able to ensure 100% full immunization of teachers and non-teaching staff in the next few days,” Sanjay Deshmukh, assistant director, health services, Pune area.
The United States government introduced the ‘Teacher’ and ‘Non-Teaching’ category categories in centralized Cowin Portal to accelerate full immunization among segments of September 1 addition, the center has allocated more than two Covid-19 vaccine crores to declare the school teacher vaccine and Non-teaching staff based on priority.
Most teachers have received the first dose of vaccines and steps about introducing separate categories to Cowin are mainly intended to accelerate full vaccination in the segment.
“It is very important for teachers and school support staff to be fully vaccinated as part of preparation to reopen the school,” Sanjay Patil, Chair of the Indian Medical Association of the Indian Hospital (HBI), said on Monday.
The school has been closed for almost 18 months now since March last year after the Covid-19 outbreak in the country.
This has raised concerns about cognitive and physical growth of children.
Many states consider reopening school after Diwali.
N Arora, Chairman of the National Technical Advisory Group on immunization, has told TII that countries must accelerate full vaccination among teachers and non-teaching staff.
There are almost 97 lakh teachers in this country.
In August, Niti Aayog member VK Paul said that nearly 50% had been vaccinated.
