Ahmedabad: The level of covid antibodies among Amdavadis is the highest in residents southwestern zone of the city, which stretches fields such as Vejalpur, Jodhpur, Sarkhej, and Maktampura.
In this zone, around 87% of the sample population have covid antibodies.
The figure was reflected in the final result of the fifth round of the Sero Covid survey, which was conducted between May 28 and June 3 after the deadly second wave.
The overall seropositivity of around 5,000 individuals sown by AMC is 81.63%.
Toi has reported in June that the initial results of the Sero survey have been pegged 70% plus Amdavadis has antibodies against Covid-19.
Along with the southwest zone, the population of 87% of the southern zone also has covid antibodies.
This zone covers areas such as Maninagar, Indrapuri, Kankaria, Vatva, Lambha, and Behrampura.
High seropositivity in this zone has been associated with two factors: Delta variant infections and vaccination.
The latest seropositivity report tracks a rampage of the second wave in Ahmedabad from April to May.
“In our fourth serosurveillance drive we conducted in February, we found that 27.92% of the sample population had covid antibodies,” said a senior AMC official.
“In May-end, the Delta variant has infected a large number of populations.
The previous variant is not contagious like a Delta variant.” In 2020, AMC had completed three serosurveys – in June, August and October.
This survey shows that only 17.6%, 23.2%, and 24.2% of the sample population had antibodies.
The latest serosurvey saw higher seropocytivity among men compared to women.
The survey found that 82% of 1,900 men samples had antibodies; The number for 2,100 women is 81%.
Seropositivity is 76.7% among those who do not have a history of Covid or not vaccinated, the report said.
Seropositivity is 97.4% among those who have contracted Covid and have taken two vaccine shooting.
