Nagpur: More than 800 students from the BTECH, Barch and MTech programs at 2021-22 Batch Institute of National Technology Visvesvaraya (VNIT), Nagpur has accepted a job offer from nearly 200 companies.
Training and placement officials said this was the highest number of work ever offered in campus history and that the figure tended to swell.
This institute expects to reach 1,000 campus placements at the end of April, when students at the end of this year will faint.
About 100 undergraduate and 200 graduate students have not appeared for placement.
Director of Pramod Padole has instructed to keep the placement open for the previous batch as well, where 549 students were placed, because they were hit hard by a pandemic.
Recording work offers have come for batches that have completed the last two years in online classes.
The average placement ranges from 400 and 500 in the last five academic years.
A survey by the Institute helps identify weaknesses and provides appropriate training to make students ready to use.
The highest package offered is ₹ 34.25 lakh per year (LPA) to two students, in the domain consulting management.
The top 10 recruiters offer packages between RS18LAKH and RS34.25LPa.
IT services, financial services, e-commerce and educational services are several sectors where students are placed.
Some recruiters took 38 students from different engineering branches.
The BTECH course has eight branches, MTech 20 and MSC three, besides Barch and PhD.
The average cost for the company (CTC) increased from RS8.42Lpa to RS10.3LPA this year.
Also, 40 other companies participated in the placement drive, compared to 158 years ago.
Padole said the Institute recently made many changes in the training mechanism and placement.
“We have introduced 120 hours of special courses.
Every student should undergo these courses related to core knowledge, soft skills, presentations and overall capabilities.
We apply it from last year and get good results now.

The director added that the average salary rose more than 60%.
“Job offers for postgraduate students (PG) have increased a lot.
We expect good prospects for PG.
One year complete for internships, instead of six months, introduced as requested by the industry.
