CHENNAI: Customs officers in Chennai airport have captured 9.87pound of heroin worth 70 crore from 2 African American girls and detained them.
A customs department launch on Friday reported a top alert was kept in the airport according to information which narcotics medication were supposed to be smuggled into India and also two young African girls who arrived with a Qatar Airways flight (No 528) by Johannesburg through Doha were intercepted in the exit suspicion.
1 passenger was having a wheelchair, but she seemed physically healthy.
This increased suspicion of these officers.
Questioned about her wellbeing, the girl became anxious and gave evasive answers.
After additional questioning it had been detected that they had been carrying a single stroller tote each because of their checked-in luggage.
It was discovered there had been false bottoms from the bags out of where officers regained eight plastic packs (four out of each bag).
The packets included a powder that was heroin when analyzed using a testing kit.
The sticks were sprinkled with a few hot powder to replicate the odor.
It had been captured under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 read together with all the Customs Act.
Customs officials had reported that a similar instance of alcoholism from 2 Tanzanian nationals on May 7, dependent on an input from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI).
Incidentally, they’d come to India below the pretext of medical therapy.
If that’s the situation, 15.6 pound of heroin worth 100 crore has been captured.
A girl and a guy, who’d arrived at Chennai with a Qatar Airways flight (QR 528) by Johannesburg through Doha, were detained.
They were carrying medication from false bottoms of the stroller totes.
In the same way, it was sprinkled with hot powder to purify the odor.
On coughing, Customs discovered the girl pupil aged 46 years has been traveling to India for medical care at a super speciality hospital at Bengaluru together with her 45-year-old attendant, an man.
They had been traveling to a visa given to them on the grounds of communicating from the clinic.
As they couldn’t find a direct trip to Bengaluru, they landed in Chennai.
