Las Vegas North: Accident six vehicles killed nine people and left one person in critical condition in Nevada, and the police tried to determine whether a driver was disturbed before running a red light, causing a collision.
Las Vegas police said the driver and passenger were among the dead after an accident on Saturday and the age of other victims ranged from teenagers to middle-aged adults.
They said the driver’s identity and eight other people who were killed would be released by the Coroner Clark County office, but there was no schedule given.
Two people were taken to the hospital where someone died and the others were in critical condition, according to the North Las Vegas police.
Overall, 15 people were involved in the accident.
“We haven’t seen a mass victim’s traffic collision like this before,” Police spokesman Alexander Cuevas said at a press conference.
Cuevas said the accident was reported at 3pm after the driver crashed into several vehicles, causing “chaotic events.” Some vehicles hit pushed into an empty place at the intersection, which was reopened on Sunday afternoon.
“Our minds and our prayers with families who experience extraordinary and unnecessary losses because of careless and unreasonable actions,” said the North Las Vegas Council Pamela Goynes-Brown.
“Please make this a safer community to slow down.
Note the speed limit,” Cuevas said.
The National Transportation Safety Board said it coordinated the investigation team with North Las Vegas police.
On January 10, six other vehicles in the south of Las Vegas left four dead.
According to the authorities, 2021 is the most deadly on Jalan Nevada in 14 years.
The country reported 382 traffic deaths last year, an increase of 18 percent of a total of 2020s.
