Nagpur: Nine months after Vaccination Covid-19 began throughout the country on January 17, 2021, the drive turned out to be full of achievements when it comes to the efficacy of vaccines, safety, and mass inoculation programs.
As far as Vidarbha region, more than 63% of the eligible population (more than 18 years) has had at least one Jab.
More than 27% of the qualified population have received a vaccine dose and obtained large protection against serious Covid-19 disease.
Experts and researchers told TOI that the area comfortably headed to the immune status of herd with a combination of vaccines and virus exposure.
In accordance with official numbers, on January 17, a total of 1% of the vid population (2.65 lakh) was officially infected by Covid-19.
After 9 months on October 17, almost 5% of the population (11.19 lakh) was officially infected.
In accordance with ICMR, the actual number of people exposed to Covid-19 at least three times more than official figures.
So, almost 20% of the vidarbha population has been infected in several or other stages of the first or second wave.
“Herdiness immunity is achieved either through infection and recovery or by vaccination.
Herdiness immunity also protects those who cannot be vaccinated because the diseases that spread in a population are very limited.
We experience the same phase today at Vidarbha,” said Anand Thatte epidemiology.
“The proportion of populations that must be immune to reaching immunity vary by disease.
As far as Covid-19 worry, we need more than 70% of population immunity, the numbers we have to pass,” he added.
While the figure of this immune population was not officially stated by any government agent, the recent SERO survey conducted by the Institute of Indian Medical Sciences Nagpur (CIIMS) has been found close to 80% of sero-positivity in random samples collected in Nagpur Regency.
“SERO survey based on our blood samples shows more than 70% of Nagpurians have Covid-19 infection.
From unfavorable subjects, 70% have natural antibodies when they come out of vaccinated subjects, 85% plus have antibodies,” said Dr.
Rajpal S Kashyap, senior scientist and research director CIIMS.
The official SERO survey of Nagpur Regency is being carried out by the Division Health Authority.
On January 17, the Vidarbha region had 7,393 Covid-19 patients.
On October 17, only 108 patients had Covid-19 and underwent treatment.
This shows, most populations are safe.
However, the main obstacle in the global immunity achievement is a population bag that is not vaccinated.
“Vaccines have worked for us.
Now, a better idea is to find a bag that is not vaccinated and the target of the vaccine and reaches more than 90% coverage,” said an infectious disease specialist Dr.
Nitin Shinde.
The government authority told Tii that there were several bags in Vidarbha where vaccination was still taboo.
“In Akola, a population of less than 50% is vaccinated with at least one dose regardless of all efforts.
Less than 23% of the eligible population has obtained both doses,” said a senior official from Akola GMCH which added that the bag that was not vaccinated was being elected And the main drive will soon be launched in this area.
