WASHINGTON: Nine of the 11 finalists for the US spelling bees contest this year are Indians-Americans, which reflects the dominance of young people from the ethnic community on this prestigious test for more than a decade now.
11 spelling, nine of them are Indian-Americans, will compete for champions of the 2021 Scripps Final Bee National Spelling on July 8 in the last 20 years, Indians-Americans have dominated the bee spelling contest even though they consisted of only about 1% of the population US.
There were eight co-champions in 2019, seven of them were Indians-Americans, carrying the total number of Indian champions from 1999 to 26.
