Chennai: About nine of every 10 people in this city chose to take their anti-covid vaccine at the company’s Urban Primary Health Center (UPHC).
Of the 53.4 lakh people given the first dose, 46.4 lakh (87%) took it in UPHC data, which was disclosed distributed by TOI.
Meanwhile, 88% or 35.5 people lakh took their second dose on the UPHC of the total beneficiary of 40.5 lakh.
While the private center raises up to ₹ 1,500, shots compared to free vaccination in public health centers, officials say the cost factor is not the only reason behind the UPHC.
“UPHC is the face of the corporation.
We started the door-to-door vaccination service for physically challenged.
We held a mega vaccine camp on Sunday using the full strength of our health staff.
Lately, we also connect the Helpline 1913 for a booster dose vaccination , “said Commissioner Corporation Gagandeep Singh Bedi.
The Civic’s body also held a vaccination camp on the streets, in apartments and workplaces and expanded outreach steps to vaccinate vendors in the market such as Koyambedu.
Officials said this outreach action was directly from the initial stage to eliminate doubts, fear, and increase coverage, playing a role in the UPHC that gained people’s trust.
Fourteen UPHC is in 15 vaccination centers in the city which boasts the highest number of vaccination, data from Cowin shows.
At No.
15 is the Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital.
Rice, mirsahibpet, hipture and vapuralani UPHC has been vaccinated a total of more than 2 lakh.
Health workers Dr.
M Jagousesan said the election on UPHC was an encouraging sign that praised the health care provided by the Civic body.
“Many categories (people), who usually don’t come to UPHC, come for vaccination,” he said, adding that the civil body ensures accessibility in vaccination for all.
