90% Corporator Prints Poor Value: Praja

Mumbai: Towards the BMC selection scheduled for early next year, 220 Corporator performance analysis by NGO Praja Foundation shows two of those who get value for the 2017-2021 period in the assessment system designed by residents of Watchdog.
While 198, or 90%, board members receive the value of C, D, E and F, there are 20 who have achieved B.
Praja reports say the ranking shows there is a need for a large increase in corporator performance.
Class A is given to scores from 80 to 100, b from 70 to 80, and the value of C to F all for various scores below 70.
Opposition leader Ravi Raja ranks first.
The five term corporators said they took people before the government repeatedly ensured the top position.
Aimim Corporator from Bharatnagar at the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC), Gulnaz Qureshi, stands last.
Public representatives refuse to talk about anything, just say all questions will be answered by her husband.
Salim, Qureshi’s husband, said they did not believe in “this report card” and believe they will win the election again for the work they have done in recent years.
Samadhan Sarvankar from Shiv Sena, a first time supporator from Prabhadevi, said he felt one of the reasons he was in the top three was that he did not only raise the problems of citizenship but also ensured that this was resolved.
Corporators at BMC homes are currently selected in 2017.
The presence of the corporator at a committee meeting fell from 82.15% in 2017-2018 to 73.70% in 2019-20.
“As a representative of a citizen, it is expected that the Canporator will ask questions with city companies about complaints made by residents,” said Director of the Praja Foundation Mhaske M Arkas.
While the NGO analyzed the performance of the annual corporator, last year’s Pandemic Covid-19 arrived and the praja decided to issue a consolidated report card which requires data that includes the performance of board members from 2017 to 2021.
Although only the performance of 220 was analyzed as a mayor and several canitators who had not resolved a certain period Not analyzed.
The report called for more meetings through the use of technology, greater coordination between stakeholders, and decentralization of power.
“Now the BMC selection is in the corner, we need to understand how our elected representatives have appeared in the past and this can act as the right moment for introspection in the show,” said the founder of the Jayasan, Nitai Mehta managed.
Praja data shows that four more meetings per month are held during the pandemic months compared to the monthly average in previous years.
In 2019-2020, the average monthly was 22 environmental meetings, while when technology was used from October 2020 to March 2021, he reached 26 meetings.
