90 mini electric buses for Bengaluru in December

Private companies to supply 90 mini electric buses that can include 180 km with full-filled batteries to the transportation utility in December
JBM Auto Limited, a car manufacturing company, headquartered in Gurugram, plans to send 90 mini electric buses to Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) in December this year, officials said.
At present, the company is in the process of obtaining a double for a 31-seat bus prototype.
Making prototypes, after being approved, will be followed by a full assembly of the 90 bus fleet.
Recently, BMTC officials visited the car manufacturer’s factory to get experience directly from the electric bus.
“The prototype needs to undergo several regulatory agreements including safety and fitness examination.
The company has promised to supply the first electric bus in the first week of September.
The remaining buses will be sent in a batch for the next three months,” BMTC official said.

It can be noted that according to the previous plan, BMTC should receive all 90 electric buses now but the supply is disturbed due to a pandemic.
The company has supplied one electric bus in November to assess whether the vehicle is suitable for Jalan Bengaluru or not.
Officials tested the bus for about a month in different fields, including flyovers.
Checked that this electric bus can cover around 180 kilometers with a full battery and an average speed of about 25 kilometers per hour.
Prototypes need to undergo several regulatory agreements, including safety and fitness examination.
The company has promised to supply the first electric bus in the first week of September – an BMTC official
Rs 51 per kilometer
Among the shooters participating in the tender to supply 90 electric buses, JBM Consortium Auto Limited and NTPC Vyapar Nigam Vyapar Vidyut, PSU under the UNI Ministry of Power, quoted the lowest prices to supply the bus and operate it.
As per the agreement, BMTC – which has guaranteed 200 kilometers of operation per bus per bus, – will provide Rs 51 to manufacturers per kilometer.
This promise amounts to Rs 9,180 per day, per bus.
In addition to operating costs, BMTC has agreed to provide Rs 50 Crore towards filling in infrastructure and electric buses.
Personal consortium is expected to operate a bus on certain routes, meeting daily maintenance costs and also provides drivers.
BMTC cut a raw deal to go on a bus friendly bus? In accordance with the agreement, a private consortium is expected to operate this bus on certain routes, meet daily maintenance costs and also provide drivers.
According to the Gross Contract Contract Model (GCC), private companies will take responsibility for operation and maintenance (O & M) in addition to supplying buses.
BMTC will make a profit only if passengers are high.
This is not possible because most BMTC diesel-run buses have losses.
