New Delhi: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday attacked the mod to the problem of high price gas cooking and said if the government was honest about the Ujwala scheme, it must provide subsidies to the poor and reduce inflation.
His attack on the government came a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Ujwala 2.0 – second phase Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) – by presenting a free LPG connection to several recipients in Mahaba in Uttar Pradesh, where the assembly selection is scheduled for early next year.
“The ninety percent of the cylinders given under the Ujwala lay no consist and women are forced to cook firewood because the BJP government has doubled the cylinder rate in the past seven years and reduces the amount that can be ignored,” said Priyanka Gandhi in Tweet in Hindi.
“If the government is honest about Ujwala then it must provide subsidies to the poor and reduce inflation,” said Secretary General of Congress and marked media reports about the problems faced by the poor because of the increase in gas cooking prices.
Congress on Tuesday said the Ujwala scheme has been proven to be a “hollow gimmick” government with a domestic cooking gas cylinder for RS 888, and demanded that the price be split in two to 2014 as long as the UPA rules.
