92,926 people booked in the city to jump signal stop in 8 months

Coimbatore: City traffic police have registered 92,926 cases against people to jump over red signals at the crossroads in the last eight months, compared with 90,145 in the same period last year.
S Senthilkumar, Deputy City Police Commissioner Commissioner, said most motorists did not stop their vehicle after seeing red lights on the traffic signal.
“We saw a group of food delivery boys who violated traffic rules and police officers directed at doing a special awareness program for them.” The city traffic police have registered 9.14 cases of lakh violation of traffic rules in total and imposed a fine RS RS 2.11 Crore in the first eight months of this year.
“We have automatic number recognition cameras and internet protocol cameras at various intersections on Jalan Avinashi, Jalan Trichy and Mettupalayam Road.
They can capture two important violations – red lights jump on the signal and do not wear a helmet while riding a motorcycle.
Our officers are in the field Currently focusing on such offenders, “said Senthilkumar.
City police collect a fine RS 100 to jump signal.
If the amendment of motorized vehicles acts must be implemented in this district, the number of fines will increase to RS RS 1000, said a police officer, who does not want to be named.
He said they had registered 9.14,545 cases of traffic violations during the period and punished violators in a tone of Rs 2,22,86,190.
Last year, only 8,96,739 cases of traffic violations were registered during the same period, when violators were fined Rs 3.78 Crore.
“We also focus on violations without parking.
We have installed parking signs in various stretches throughout the city.
However, many motorists do not care and park the vehicle there.
We have ordered more than 1.14 lakh cases for breaking the rules without just parking , “said Senthilkumar to Toi.
It should be noted that the vehicle movement was limited on the road last year due to the situation of the pandemic.
Therefore, fatal accidents are also lacking.
While the city has recorded 57 fatal accidents where 59 people lost their lives until August 31 this year, only 39 such accidents were reported in the same period last year.
