Tirupur: The state government on Monday ordered the Public Works Department (PWD) to release water from the Dam Thirumoorthy to Canal Ayacuts Old Palaru and Vaikkal Canal Dhali from August 3.
Farmers, especially in the Palaikulam-Aliyar project.
And the Thirumoorthy Reservoir project urged the state government to release water from the Thirumoorthy Dam for irrigation.
After considering their request, Chairman of the Constitutional Court Minister Stalin directed PWD officials to release water from the Thirumoorthy Dam on August 3 (Tuesday).
“Water will be released for 135 days.
9,500 Cusec Air will be released from the dam in five stages.
94,068 hectares in Block Pollachi, Kinathukadavu, and tendrils in Coimbatore Regency, Udumalapettai, Madathukulan, Palladam, Tiruppur, Kangayam, and Dharapuram Blocks in Tiruppur District will Benefitable, “said the official.
The state government also directs PWD to release water from water from Thirumoorthy Dam to Dhali Vaikkal Ayacuts Project dependents.
“Water will be released until May 31, 2022, from August 3,” said the official and added that no more than 700 cusec water would be released for AyaCut farmers.
As many as 2,786 hectares of fertile land in the Udumalapettai block in Tiruppur Regency will benefit.
