New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday paid tribute to his father and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on the 77th birthday at Veer Bhumi in the national capital.
“Just a secular Indian is India who can survive.
Given Shri Rajiv Gandhi Ji on his birthday,” Rahul Gandhi wrote at the Facebook post.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tribute to Gandhi.
Born in 1944, Gandhi was the prime minister during 1984-89 and was killed in a terrorist attack in 1991.
Modi leader Tweeted-Congress Ghulam Prophet Azad and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury also gave awards to the former prime minister on his current birthdays .
Born on August 20, 1944, Rajiv Gandhi became the youngest prime minister in India when he assumed the office in October 1984.
He served as Indian Prime Minister until December 2, 1989.
In May 1991, Rajiv Gandhi was killed by the Tiger Bomber Release Tamil Eelam (LTTE ) During the election rally in Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu.
Congress observed the day as ‘sadbhavna divas’.
