Chennai: The second wave of Covid and the closure of unlimited educational institutions has led to an increase in desktop, laptops and tablets of 40-50% year-on-year (yoy) in the April to June period.
Notebooks (laptops) continue to hold a majority part, become the most sought-after computing device.
Analysts said that one device per person in the family emerged as a norm as a remote work and learning continued to provide a big boost to the private computing market.
The brand also reports the availability of healthy channels, and most global vendors prioritize growth market inventories such as India, they add.
The Indian PC market (including desktop, notebook and workstation) recorded a growth of 50.5% yoy delivery in April to June, according to data from the International Data Corporation (IDC).
As many as 3.2 million pcs were sent in the quarter, with all product categories that reported strong double-digit growth despite the absence of large education and government agreements, IDC said.
IDC data shows that the consumer segment grew more than 110% YoY and about 6% sequentially in April-June because the learning at home pushed demand.

Analyst Research Director Gartner Mikako Kitagawa said that considering the specifications, the company’s PC market was relatively higher with semiconductor deficiencies, while the consumer market was not affected.
