Kollam: Vadamon Devakiyamma, among the seniormost Ottanthullal artists at the Nation, passed away from her Home in Vadamon Close Anchal on Wednesday.
She was 76. A noted figure in the area of Ottanthullal, she introduced three types of Thullal — Ottan, Parayan along with Seethankaan together with élan. She’d put up Kalalaya Kalakendram in Vadamon from the district to encourage folk art types. She’d received many awards, such as Kunchan Nambiar Award. Her final rites would be held onto her home premises at 10am on Thursday. Late N Vasudevan Pillai has been her husband. She’s survived by kids Vikraman Pillai, Ambika, Ajitha, Kochukrishnan along with Saikala. tnn
