Bhubaneswar: Chief Executive of the world’s largest steel producer ArcelorMittal, Lakshmi Niwas Mittal met with the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the latter’s residence here on Saturday.
The official source at the minister’s head office said the meeting, the second in the past six months, lasted for an hour where Mittal was discussed about the proposed steel plant project in Kendrapada with the main minister.
Mittal would like to thank the minister’s chairman for all cooperation expanded by the state government for the proposed steel and jetty complex project.
Naveen, during the meeting, asked Mittal to accelerate the company’s project in Odisha, a senior government official said.
On March 4, ArcelorMittal, Nippon Steel India Limited (AMNS India), a joint venture ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel of Japan, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the state government to set up a steel complex integrated 12 MTPA in the district of Kendrapada with an investment of Rs 50,000 crore.
The MOU agreement was signed before the Minister of Chief and Mittal itself.
State government officials and Indian Amnns have started the land scope process for the Mega Steel Mill project.
The company has identified around 6,500 hectares of land as an interesting initial field for steel complexes in the Mahakalapada area in Kendrapada Regency.
This complex will come near Mahakalapada, close to the river port proposed on Mahanadi and the newly built day of hardaspur-paradip train.
The source said the company has involved several institutions to prepare pre-feasibility reports from the steel complex and jetty project, which is expected soon.
Previously on that day, Mittal visited the Paradip Port and the Seaside Village near Mahakalapada on the sea route, where the company had planned to establish a steel factory.
The company has identified land available in Badatubi, Sanatubi, Hetamundia, Kansaradia, Nipania, Batighar and other beach villages for the factory.
