Coimbatore: Onam’s celebration is the main affairs in the city on Saturday due to covid restrictions on the spot.
People from Kerala are an important part of the Coimbatore population, district administration has announced local holidays on Saturday, when the 10-festival long day was concluded with the Thiruvonam celebration.
Sidhapudur Sree Ayyappan Temple, which was decorated with colorful Rangoli flowers, watched a large crowd from the morning.
However, the temple was closed for worshipers due to restrictions.
People have Darshan from gods from outside the temple.
“It will be a satisfying experience if we are permitted in the temple because it is one important aspect of the Onam celebration,” said Aravind Kutty, 40 years old.
“While limitations are needed to prevent the spread of Covid further, people keep coming to the temple to see if it will be open to Darshan specifically,” he said.
Malayale made Rangoli flowers, an integral part of the Harvest Festival, in front of the house on Saturday morning.
Because food is an integral part of the celebration, City hotels offer interesting combo from Onam Sadhya and even take bookings in advance.
While Onam is celebrated at an educational institution in a way, this year, college and school teachers celebrate the festival for the past week, most of which are subdued.
Students attending online classes from home skip Rangoli competitions and the opportunity to wear traditional clothes.
