Pune: a city resident loses all the hope of seeing his homeland again after he was “arrested” along with his husband and several others by Taliban fighters on August 21 when they would enter Kabul flights to India.
However, they managed to return without injury, after a 12-hour nightmare, on August 22.
The woman married a citizen of Afghanistan in 2016 and went to Afghanistan on December 2, 2020, to meet her in-laws in the city of Jalalabad.
He and her husband were among 150 people taken from the gate of Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul to the base by Taliban fighters on August 21.
“I will never forget the two hours at the base.
I pray for my life,” said the woman to Ti on Wednesday.
He currently lives with her husband at his parents’ house in Dhanori.
Given his frightening experience, he said a total of 180 people, including, a citizen of Afghanistan who had an Indian partner, was waiting at eight buses outside the airport.
“One passenger has uploaded a video on social media sites that explain the difficulties faced by us.
Within 15 minutes, Talibani fighters who flushed into our bus and took us to their base, a few kilometers away from the airport,” he said.
They separate passengers of men and women.
“After 15 minutes, they asked my husband to collect our passport,” he recalled.
“After two hours, they arranged lunch for us.
That’s when we feel rather comfortable.
They sent us back to the airport on the bus without damaging anyone,” he added.
However, the airport gate remained closed that day.
He said, “We waited on the bus until 6pm.
Then, our coordinator took us to Khalij Wedding Hall, where the accommodation was arranged for us.
Around 9pm, we finally entered the airport through the VIP gate.
After seeing the Air Force plane India there, I felt a little relieved.
The flight took off in the middle of the night and we landed at the IAF Hindon base in Ghaziabad at Uttar Pradesh in early August 22.
“The couple could not take a flight for Pune.
They lived in New Delhi last night and arrived at Pune airport on August 23 morning.
“We booked Indian water flights on August 19th.
However, we cannot enter the airport.
We have to wait until August 22.
Three days in Kabul are the longest days in my life,” said the woman’s husband Najib Safi, who completed the title Bachelor in computer applications from a city college in 2016.
Safi worried about his parents, two brothers and sisters at home.
