Moscow: Kremin said that Russia will follow the development in Afghanistan before making a decision about whether to recognize the Taliban government.
Russian President’s spokesman Vladimir Putin Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday that Moscow would witness “future steps to ensure the order and security of these citizens and provide security for Russian diplomats.” PESKOV emphasized that Russia wanted to see peace and stability in Afghanistan and hoped that efforts would be taken to stem the flow of drugs that came from the country.
Moscow, who fought for 10 years in Afghanistan, ended with the withdrawal of Soviet troops in 1989, has made a diplomatic comeback as a mediator over the past few years, reaching the diocese of Afghan factions including the Taliban despite the group.
