Chennai: With 1,559 new cases reported in TN, a decline in new cases continued on Thursday, although 17 districts reported an increase compared to Wednesday.
The sharpest increase was seen in Coimbatore Regency, which shared the border with Kerala, with new cases increased from 181 on Wednesday to 216 on Thursday.
Meanwhile, 26 deaths reported on Thursday took the victim to 34,814.
At the end of the day, after the use of 1,816 patients, the state had 18,069 people who underwent treatment for viral infections.
On Thursday, the Ministry of Health Public Relaqueys all districts bordering Kerala to maintain strict alertness and encourage vaccination 100% of people traveling across the country.
The districts are also asked to identify areas with higher participation levels in their jurisdiction for micro-detention steps and contact contacts.
New cases reported in other border districts such as Kankumari and Tenkasi are almost the same as Wednesday, while Theni reported falling from 14 cases on Wednesday to 8 on Thursday.
After coimbatore, most of the new cases were reported in Chennai (175) and Erode (115).
While Chennai reported an increase from 170 new cases on Wednesday, Erode reported a decline of 130 cases.
Chengalpet, who followed Erode, reported 113 cases – increased from 90 cases on Wednesday.
Chengalpet saw the sharpest increase in new cases after coimbatore.
Of the 26 deaths reported on Thursday, Coimbatore, Erode, Thanjavur and Kancheepuram contributed three of each.
Eight districts reported one death and 23 reported zero death.
