Guwahati: The Indian Institute of Guwahati (IIT-G) on Monday said that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with a private university based in Coimbatore to help enrich academic programs and promote student exchanges between the two institutions.
The MoU was signed by Prof G Sitharam, Director, IIT-G, and Dr.
Venkata Rangan, Deputy Chancellor Amrita Vishwa Vidyapetham (AVV) in this case recently, the official release said.

Sitharam, said, “With the emergence of many new interdisciplinary studiners and academic centers equipped with advanced equipment in Iit-Guwahati, the Institute is destined to serve the country with extra strength.
“Joint collaboration will help the new height scale institute in research and academics.”
IIT-G and AVV will encourage cooperation between faculty members, departments, and their research centers, including visits of faculty members to provide lectures, conduct seminars, discussions, research and supervision of student studies, said release.
Deputy AVV Deputy Chancellor said, “This is a moment of history for both institutions, who struggle for excellence in teaching and research, to gather together in perfect public partnerships”.
IIT-G, founded in 1994, is equipped with world-class infrastructure and global research rankings 41.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, which was declared “considered a university” by UGC in 2003, was ranked fourth by the national institutional framework, Indian government, in the University category and has been awarded the status of IOE (Eminence Institution) by UGC in 2019.
