PUDUCHERRY: The legislative speaker Puducherry R Selvam sustained a light heart attack on Tuesday before leading the trial of the fourth day of the ongoing budget session.
Selvam left the house in his car for assembly in the morning to attend a budget session starting at 9:30 a.m.
When he will reach assembly, he suffered a minor attack, and the driver shifted the vehicle to the Indira Gandhi Government General Hospital and a postgraduate research institute where the doctor’s team was coming soon.
The doctors who were in charge of saying the speaker was stable.
Governor Lieutenant (additional fee) Tamilisai Soundararajan and Chair of Minister N Rangasamy visited Selvam at the hospital and asked about his health with a team of doctors.
The doctors then referred him to a private hospital in Chennai for further care.
Selvam underwent angioplasty and stenting to clean the blocked arteries in his heart a few years ago.
Deputy Speaker P Rajavelu, who was elected without a chance on the first day of the budget session, was carrying out the process.
