Hyderabad: Institute of Indian Technology, Hyderabad (IIT-H) has inaugurated the first Indian bio-brick-based building, which was built from agro-waste.
This technology was developed to fight air pollution caused by burning stumps.
Bio-brick is developed as an alternative and sustainable building material that replaces the burning of stumps.
When used on the roof and wall panels, bio-bricks can effectively reduce the heat gain of five to six degrees.
Compared to burning clay bricks, bio-brick will cost around ₹ 3 ₹ 3 when produced in bulk.
The prototype of the cabin guard was designed and executed in the room allocated by IIT-H.
The sample building consists of bio-brick with support from the metal framework.
“This is the perfect illustration of the wealth of waste and we will send proposals to promote broader adoption by rural communities to the Ministry of Agriculture and the welfare of farmers,” said Director of IIT-H BS Murty.
