Adding to the other name, Jaipur Girl Avani Lekhara won the bronze at the 50m Rifle 3 position (SH1) event in Paralympics, becoming the first Indian woman to win two medals in an event edition in Tokyo on Friday.
Avani has claimed that unprecedented gold at the 10m Air Rifle event (SH1) event five days ago.
“The feeling of winning two medals is very unique and pleasant.
I have worked very hard for both events.
Glad I can give it when it’s important,” Avani told Toi from Tokyo.
The 19-year-old recognized that it was a difficult final.
“I give it the best shot, but sometimes the best you are not always able to make sure you finish the podium.
I can do better in the final but I’m happy with the way I fight back to win the bronze,” he said.
After being second in the qualifying round with 1,176 points, Avani will neck and neck in the final.
The margin was only 0.2 points between Avani, who was fourth and Ukraine Shchetnik Ukraine who was third after the competition was boiled into four shooters.
Keeping his calm at the decisive moments, the teenager was delivered with a 10.5 shot, so it was finished in front of the shchetnik who could only manage 9.9.
The total score of the Indian shooter is 445.9.
China Cuiping Zhang bagged gold with a final score of 457.9 and Natascha Hiltrop Germany took silver with 457.1.
