Srinagar: The J & K police on Saturday submitted a quarter against the family member of the separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani and the others to increase anti-national slogans and put the Pakistani flag on his body.
A police officer said: “Fir was registered at the Budgam Police Station against Geelani family members along with other elements to increase anti-national slogans and put the Pakistani flag on the separatist body at his home after his death on Wednesday.” Geelani, 92, had died on Wednesday night at the Hyderpora residence here after a prolonged disease.
Family members have alleged that the police grabbed the body in the middle of the night and buried him quietly, a direct charge was rejected by the police.
Videos that show the Pakistani flag above Geelani’s body has been viral on social media.
Meanwhile, the situation in all Kashmir Valley remained peacefully forbidden a stingen incidence of small stone in the Narcator area of the Budgam district.
IGP (Kashmir Range) Vijay Kumar said several precautions were taken to defend the law and order after Geelani’s death.
The police have made a preventive arrest of tens of tenant so far, he added.
“Cellular internet services, suspended after Geelani’s death, will soon be restored after reviewing the overall security situation,” Kumar said, adding that cellular voice calls and broadband services had been restored on Friday.
