Ahmedabad: The State Education Department seems to be awakened from his sleep after the 11-year gap to improve daily working hours for a two-hour teacher.
This has quoted the rules in the Rights Law on Education (RTE), 2009 for this decision.
However, the teacher association has opposed this decision, claiming that the government tried to resolve the score with the teacher because he did not attend the ‘Assessment Survey’ recently.
In the notification issued by the recent department, daily working hours for elementary school teachers have been upgraded two hours to eight hours from Monday to Friday.
On Saturday, they will work for five hours, which is the current scenario.
Of the 35 hours a week, working hours have been upgraded to 45 hours, according to notification on August 26.
Ghanshyam Patel, President of Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh Gujarat, said the government took a grudge against teachers who did not participate in the August 24 survey conducted to evaluate the readiness of primary teachers in providing quality education.
The decision tends to have an impact on 2 lakh teachers in the state.
“We have made representations to the state government in this regard and plans to launch protests if the government does not return the decision,” Patel said.
The State Government faces a large setback recently because only 37% of primary teachers participated in a survey called ‘Shikshak Sarvekshan’ Shikshak.
Senior officials in the state education department previously expressed confidence that more than 80% of the teachers would participate in the survey.
The association believes that the survey is none other than the exam and is an insult to teachers.
They have received a call to the teacher to boycott the survey.
For the latest decisions, the government has quoted the 2009 RTE law as a reason behind its decision, as the first grade 5 teacher to grade 5 should work for 800 hours a year and a grade 6 to 8 teacher is to work for 1,000 hours per year .
Digvijay Singh Jadeja, President of the Gujarat Primary Teacher Association (GPTA), said that the government had to roll back his decision.
“The government suddenly wakes up to realize that it must implement this rule? Also, timings in various schools are different in the state.
The government must ensure that there is uniformity here.
We feel that the government has a revenge for the teacher because of the disaster they face in the survey Recently, “said Jadeja.
