New Delhi: Time has come for India to become “Vishwa Teacher” once again and emerge as a center of knowledge and innovation, Venkaiiah Naidu’s vice president said on Sunday.
He also said that the country should not try to maintain but also try to preserve the cultural heritage and his rich inheritance.
At the Facebook post to mark the alert Birth of Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, which was celebrated as a teacher’s day, Naidu said that “each of us owes, in large size, his career choices in life for mentoring and guidance by our teachers”.
India, the vice president observed, is a learning center recognized in ancient times, he said.
It is known as “Teacher Vishwa” (Teachers to all over the world) attracting knowledge seekers in various disciplines from different globe angles.
They came from afar to sharpen their intelligence, gained new knowledge, honed their skills and expanded their intellectual limits, Naidu noted.
Charaka Samhita, Aryabhatiya, Arthasasthra, Shukranitisara and Patanjali’s silk yoga are among the many famous ancient treatises who testify about the extensive knowledge repository of the ancient India, Deputy Pressdient wrote.
The education system at that time was formal and informal with Gurukul, Patashalas and even the temple played an important role in the holistic development of an individual, he said.
“At the core, it is a unique Teacher-Shishya paramara in times-period-period-period-period-period-times of Erudite giving extensive knowledge in addition to teaching important life skills For students who are vibrant, obedient and devoted, “recalled Naidu.
New education policy (NEP) -2020 aims to overhaul the education system and create a new order that will fulfill the requirements of the 21st century education, while building the tradition and Indian value system, he wrote.
“Pretty right, NEP places teachers at the heart of the fundamental reform in the education system,” Naidu said, adding that this new policy will help in growing the right ecosystem where both teachers and students will realize their full potential and contribute to humanitarian progress in all fields.
