New Delhi: The Head of the CIA Bill Burns flew to India on Tuesday for consultation on major security issues with national security advisors Ajit Doval and Indian security companies even when the Taliban announced the government while they were in Kabul.
Conversations centered on terrorism, most of Pakistan, and the way forward in Afghanistan.
The visit, which was wrapped, came on the same day NSA NSA Nikolay Patrushev began his visit, also for consultation in Afghanistan.
Burns apparently went to Islamabad from here on Wednesday.
Burns’ visit highlighted increased security issues for India and the US, both in the regional and global context when the Taliban swept power in Kabul.
On Tuesday, when the Taliban flew their flags at Panjshir Valley, protests broke out in Kabul, Mazar-e-Sharif and even Zaranj against the Taliban and what they said was “outside interference” by Pakistan.
It is widely believed that the Taliban government is an agreement that was hit between the various Taliban factions, which was brought by the Head of Pakistan Faiz Hameed, who arrived in Kabul on Monday.
The Taliban government announced Sirajuddin Haqqani – appointed global terrorists – as Minister of Internal Affairs.
A number of Taliban leadership was marked by UNSC as a terrorist.
In fact, India leads the UNSC committee that will decide Taliban sanctions in the coming weeks.
The main concern of India is a surge in infiltration by the Pakistani group to India.
