New Delhi: Water Minister Satyendar Jain visited a natural waste treatment plant (STP) in Drain Ghoga on Tuesday.
He directed the official concerned to increase the water treatment capacity of 10 latris per day up to 50 latriters per day.
Jain said, “STP is based on a wetland system built and treated 10 liters of waste water per day without electricity or additional power.
The water treatment capacity of STP must be increased to 50 lakh liters per day.
Recycled water will be used to fill Repeat the ground water by making a lake in the adjacent area.
“The minister also examined the area around Lake Sannoth in Bawana.
He said that around 3 MGD (million gallons per day) recycled water from a general waste processing plant Bawana will be used to rejuvenate the lake.
The work of revival is scheduled to be completed in December 2021, he added.
Next Jain said that the capacity of water holders from the lake will increase so that more groundwater can be refilled.
The Minister also instructed Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (DSIIDC) and Irrigation & Flood Control Department officials (I & FC) to cleanse the escape drain, which has a 680 cusec design debit capacity.
This channel cleaning task will be carried out together by DSIIDC and the I & FC department.
“DSIIDC will ensure that no untreated or invalid water channels fall into the Escape channel, while the I & FC department will ensure that the quality of existing water flowing to the waterways must be increased to meet the parameters set by the National Green Court.
Weirs must be made in the sewer along with floating wetlands and aerators to increase the treatment of waste water flowing into the sewer, “Jain said.
The Delhi government has announced that the area around the lake will landscape and several facilities, including the play area for children, a picnic park that stepped, the path, Chhath Puja Ghat and the open gym, will be developed for the public.
The lake will have different tree species around it, including Neem, Bombax, Plumeria and Acacia.
This project is being run by the I & FC department.
