Chennai: In a strange accident, a worker died at the building location that was being built in Tiruverkadu when a colleague slipped and fell from the second floor and landed, police said.
The man who fell from the second floor escaped with a minor injury while the man he got died of an injury a week later.
Police said a private company was building a multistory building in Suntharacholapuram where more than 30 people worked.
Babula Nahak, 24, from Odisha has worked at the location for the past four months.
While he stood near an elevator operated to send construction material, other workers, Baghdhar Behra, 25, fell to him while trying to reach the M-Sand Lift raised.
There is no parapet.
He landed in Nahak.
Other workers came to save both.
Nahak who suffered a hip injury could not move, while Behra bleeded from his head.
The duo was rushed to the nearest private hospital where Nahak was given first aid.
Because his condition was very important, he shifted to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital where he died on Tuesday.
Behra was said to be undergoing hospital treatment.
Based on complaints from Nahak immediately after the accident took place, the police registered a case that caused a sad injury.
After Nahak’s death, the police had changed the part to cause death due to negligence and investigating.
They questioned the supervisor of private companies.
The police said in a statement recorded by them before Nahak’s death, he alleged that workers were not given safety equipment.
